Our second trip to the Balloon Fiesta, was just as fun as our first! If you ever have a chance to go, do not pass it up! Be ready for lots of people, and lines, but all in all it is not so bad.
Arrive early, and enjoy the spectacle. Before dawn they usually have some sort of show in the morning sky. Our first visit was a laser light show. This visit it was a drone light show. Shortly afterwards they do the morning glow. which is 8 to 10 balloons lighting up their balloons with the burners. When given the green light they will all take off in the predawn sky. Then when the time comes get ready for HUNDREDS of balloons launching into the morning sky.
They have a system in place to launch all these balloons in about an hours time..... While there, they have food, coffee, hot chocolate. Plenty of souvenirs to choose from, including official merchandise, clothing, hand made crafts, and toys for the younger kids. Be sure to take a chair to sit on, or a blanket to spread on the ground. Or, if you prefer, don't hesitate to go and walk among the balloons as they prepare for flight. Feel free to get as close as you like, without interfering with the crew as they are setting up.
